- In my painting "Hope," I've created a contemporary interpretation of the Star of David that speaks to the eternal promise of God's faithfulness. Through my signature stained-glass inspired technique, I've woven together a tapestry of cool blues, serene purples, and touches of silver that ripple across the canvas like waves of divine peace. The six-pointed star emerges from the composition as a beacon of hope, much like David himself found hope in the Lord during his darkest moments. When David faced Goliath, hid in caves from Saul, or confronted his own failures, his hope remained anchored in God's promises. This enduring hope is reflected in his psalms, where he wrote, "Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God" (Psalm 42:11).In this piece, I've intentionally created a sense of movement through flowing lines and intersecting shapes, symbolizing how hope is not static but dynamic – a living force that carries us through life's challenges. The varying shades of blue represent the depths of God's faithfulness, while the touches of silver and light suggest the breaking of dawn after a long night, reminiscent of David's words, "weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning" (Psalm 30:5).The Star of David, known as the Shield of David (Magen David), stands as a powerful reminder that hope is our shield in times of trouble. Just as David found refuge in God throughout his journey from shepherd boy to king, this painting invites viewers to discover their own source of hope in the promises of our unchanging God."Hope" is more than a decorative piece; it's a visual psalm that speaks to the heart, reminding us that like David, we can anchor our hope in the One who is faithful through all generations.
